Interesting Sights

Hello people,

I thought would start this little blog to document the interesting and different thigns i run across while i am in Germany. I will try to be brief with words and generous with photos.

(Left) This is a tree stump with a face in it. It's in a park near the apartment I'm living in. The park is huge and unkempt, and, as i discovered today, it is also where people go to run, juggle, practice Tai Chi, and sell hashish.

(Right) This is a ship (Schiff) from a playground (Spielplatz) in the park. Die Kinder sind alle wie kleine Piraten! In general, the playgrounds are way better here than anything I've seen in America.

(LEFT) Here, people play soccer (Fußball) on blacktops the way people play basketball in America. Teams line up and wait their turn to take on the winners. No matter how close to the goal a player is, he always shoots the ball as hard as he can. One guy took a rocket right to the face, but it didn't seem to faze him at all.

(RIGHT) The graffiti (Der Graffiti) in Berlin is pretty awesome. I've seen these little worms all over the place--they look like the worms from the computer game (the one called Worms) in which cartoon worms engage in all kinds of horrendous combat. I don't know what that three-legged thing is, but i like it.

(LEFT) poor li'l guy was so tired (müde). There was a pen full of peacocks, sheep, and deer in the park. The sign said we shouldn't feed them people-food, but that didn't seem to discourage anybody from giving them bread.

(RIGHT) A river (Fluß) runs right through the middle of the city. There are lots of boat tours to see sights like this huge, old building.

(LEFT) This is a graffiti bee (Biene). Natürlich, this is the raddest thing i have ever seen.

(RIGHT) This motorcycle (Motorrad) has a roof. It's probably bigger than some of the cars people drive around here. ;)

Well, that's it for now. I will try to update this blogamajig fairly regularly with more pics and observations.

Bis später!

NO Way!!! I was thinking about you yesterday as I was driving down the 405 freeway. I'm so excited to see that you are already in Germany cuz I thought that was happening much later in the year. Did your parents kick you out? Perhaps YOU were driving THEM crazy...

Thx for staying in touch Ben! I look forward to reading of your adventures. WeeHoo!
